Personalised SIL Arrangements

At Fezzy's Professional Care, we are dedicated to empowering individuals living with disabilities to lead more independent lives through Supported Independent Living (SIL) arrangements. Our programs are designed to improve the quality of life for our clients by delivering personalised support.

We assist with everyday tasks, such as cooking, cleaning and personal care, ensuring individuals can live comfortably in their preferred residences. Not only that, but we also help participants to develop essential life skills, like budgeting, time management and socialising.

Our mission is clear: to promote autonomy, forge stronger social connections and enable people to live fulfilling lives in the comfort of their chosen homes.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who can access SIL?

SIL is primarily accessible to individuals with disabilities who have been assessed and deemed eligible for funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). To access SIL, individuals must have an approved NDIS plan that includes funding for supported living arrangements.

The eligibility criteria and specific funding allocations are determined by the NDIS, and individuals can apply for this support through the NDIS planning and assessment process.

  • What is an SIL assessment?

An SIL assessment is an evaluation conducted by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) or its partners to determine an individual's eligibility and funding requirements for SIL services under the NDIS.

This assessment assesses the participant's disability-related support needs, living arrangements and the level of assistance required to achieve independence while residing in the community. The outcome of the assessment informs the development of the participant's NDIS plan, including any funding allocated for SIL services.

  • What does SIL funding cover?

SIL funding covers the costs associated with providing support for individuals with disabilities to live independently in a shared or individual accommodation setting. This funding typically includes expenses related to staff support, assistance with daily living activities, skill development and the overall maintenance of the participant's living environment. It aims to enable individuals to achieve greater independence while ensuring a safe and supportive living arrangement tailored to their specific needs and goals.

  • What doesn't SIL funding cover?

SIL funding under the NDIS typically does not cover:

    • Rent or accommodation costs (covered separately in the NDIS plan)
    • Personal expenses like groceries, clothing & entertainment
    • Medical & healthcare expenses which are covered by other NDIS supports
    • Transportation & travel costs unrelated to daily living assistance
    • Capital costs for home modifications (covered under different NDIS supports)
    • Costs associated with non-disability-related services or activities
    • Costs for additional services not specified in the NDIS plan without approval or justification
